Chemical Peel Candidates
Ever heard of a chemical peel and thought, “I wonder if it could help me?” If so, here are some common concerns that candidates typically experience:
- Lines around the mouth and the eyes
- Skin discoloration due to the sun and other environmental factors
- Dull skin that is lackluster in texture and tone
- Acne-prone or acne-scarred skin
At our practice, chemical peel options are tailored to a patient’s specific skin issues. Because there are different levels of peels available, we are able to treat a wide variety of patients, each with unique concerns. The best way to find out if the treatment is right for you is to meet with Dr. Allen Strasberger and have him assess your skin. He can tell you which level of peel will benefit you.
The Procedure
To begin your treatment, the solution will be applied topically to your skin. After it is applied, it is left in place for a specific amount of time, which is dependent on how deeply Dr. Allen Strasberger wants the solution to penetrate. Afterwards, a skin care regimen will be outlined for your care at home during the recovery phase.
What to Expect After Your Chemical Peel Treatment
After your treatment, you will likely experience some redness and tenderness. This can be managed with medication and cool compresses. Lighter peels may produce flaking and peeling that is not much worse than a sunburn. Deeper peels can cause the skin to ooze or crust during the healing process.
Dr. Allen Strasberger will advise you about caring for your skin after your peel. You should avoid the sun and wear sunblock when going outside to make sure the new layer of skin is protected.
Most chemical peel patients see results within 7 to 10 days, with improvements lasting up to many years with proper aftercare.
